Filmed at your own desk: when the AI proctor accuses you

A university told students to buy a mirror big enough to show their whole desk and film themselves during the test, just to prove to a machine they were not cheating. Others had to sit through exams with their arms crossed. AI cheating accusations are exploding, and the detectors doing the judging are guessing.

Here is what nobody says out loud: an AI cheating detector cannot actually prove you used a chatbot. It flags a pattern and calls it proof. One education lawyer says AI accusations are now a third of her caseload, and some professors have reported more than half a class. At one school, an AI grader even misread the rubric and failed a student whose answer was right. And a machine's guess can fail your class, sink your grade, or land on your record.
